FedEx has been great for our business. Not only are they cheaper than other overnight services, their tracking system and customer service is much better and much easier to deal with than the others.
It's rare for a package to get lost or misdelivered. But when there is a problem, a quick check online to track the package usually answers any questions we might have. We can tell if the package is on the truck for delivery and we can also tell if the package has been delivered and who signed for it. If for some reason the package has either been misdelivered or misplaced (we have never had a package lost), we can request a refund and always get it.

Just recently, a package I sent out was misdelivered (which is very rare). For some reason, the driver delivered it to a business down the street. My customer called and said they had not received the samples, so I tracked her package while I had her on the phone. The FedEx site showed the package had been delivered and when I told her who had signed for it, she did not know that person. I told her I would call her back and then placed a call to FedEx. Once I got through the menu, I was put in touch with a real person and explained the situation. Luckily, the people who receieved the package in error called FedEx, and a truck was on the way to pick up the package from them and deliver it to our customer. I was then put through to Accounting who told me I would be receiving a credit for that shipment. My customer got her samples that same day, a few hours later.
In my business, time is crucial. We deal with businesses such as gourmet food companies, candle companies, and cosmetic companies. When our customers ask for samples, that usually means they are meeting with potential buyers of their products. The quicker we can get the samples to them, the quicker they can sale their products. The more products they sale means more business for us.
